Good read, Michael. Moses Avalon has been writing(Confessions of a Music Producer) and putting on workshops for several years . He was speaking of this shift as well as the ownership of all the labels being in the hands of just a few corporations in the 2000's.
Love this analysis! Question: if the majors are struggling to monetize music, where is the $12B coming from? And what is the alternative for artists who are now acting as their own managers, attorneys, social media coordinators, booking agents, and merch sellers/designers? Itβs exhausting and unsustainable for the long term! π₯΄
